Some of you may already know this but in case you don't, here it is...
I GOT A JOB!
PraisetheLord.
I am now a 3rd grade teacher at Wilton Elementary in North Carolina. I am beyond thrilled and incredibly grateful for this experience. The Lord has provided and He is faithful.
I have been in my room all week getting it set up. Students don't come back until the 26th but I have New Teacher Orientation all next week so I wanted to get a head start. I know you're probably dying for pictures but I'm going to wait until it's "perfect" (yeah right) before I make the big reveal (: If any teachers out there in blog world have any tips or advice, PLEASE SHARE.
Even though the school year hasn't started yet, I am already struggling with being consumed with my work. I want to be consumed with my Savior and eternal, lasting things. I definitely need to find the balance and implement some time management skills into my life with this new job. Putting God first is the only way I will "succeed". If any Christians out there have any advice, don't hold back.
So even though I'll definitely have less time to blog now, I will for sure have more to blog about. Here's to sharing my adventures as a Christian teacher in the world of public schools!

Ramblings.
Some updates from the past week...
Last week, we became covenant members of Imago Dei Church in Raleigh. While it may seem quick, it was definitely not a decision we took lightly. Prior to moving to NC, our Sunday School class at FMBC was studying what scripture says about what the church should look like. (It's a very interesting study to say the least.) When we moved here, we knew what we were looking for in a church and as soon as we visited IDC, we knew we had found it. We have been super encouraged by what the Lord is doing at Imago Dei. From worship, to reading scripture aloud, to growth groups, even to becoming members, everything has been Christ-centered and focused on the gospel. That is a pretty neat thing to find.
On Friday, I had an interview at a school about 20 minutes away (way better than 40 minutes like my last interview)! The principal, asst. principal, and two teachers interviewed me and they may have a 3rd grade and a K teacher position open. I felt really good about it and I definitely felt more comfortable at this one than the last one. I was the first of their interviews so they won't know anything until the end of the month. But I'm hopeful about it and praying that I will get a position out of it because I really loved the school!
On Saturday, the church had a covenant members cookout at the lake. Seth and I hung out with a family from our growth group and Seth swam with the three boys in the lake. We had a blast and it was a huge blessing to us! Yesterday, I met up with a new friend at the park and was really encouraged by our conversation. We spent our time getting to know each other better and sharing some struggles we've both been having. (Some background information: When I became a Christian, I had a wonderful, Godly woman mentor me and a best friend who did life and ministry with me. When I moved to college, I looked and prayed for those kinds of relationships but they really didn't happen. I had a few people come in and out of my life who fulfilled those roles for a short period of time, but nothing really lasting and definitely not the extent or depth it was in high school. So moving here, that is definitely something I am earnestly seeking and praying for.) Then when I got home, Seth was skyping our friends Easton and Brittany and we got to catch up with them! So fun!
The Lord has definitely been providing for us here left and right. I have been so blessed by relationships and community that he has already surrounded us with. Even though I sometimes get discouraged, I know the Lord never fails to give us what we need. Holding on to that promise this week. Thanks for reading!

Let's Be Honest
As some of you may know, Seth and I moved to North Carolina about a month ago. While here, Seth will be attending Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, also known as SEBTS, to get his Masters of Divinity in Advanced Biblical Studies. This was a big move for both of us but especially for him because he's always been right around the corner from all of his family. However, the Lord has been really faithful and provided for us exponentially.
On our campus visit in April, we met some people from Louisiana that were planning to move here in the fall. We really connected with them and God used them to confirm this was where He intended us to be. What we found out later was that one of the couples was moving down here the same weekend as we were AND into the same apartment complex! Isn't God neat? Also, since we've been here we've gotten involved with a church called Imago Dei (it means image of God) and we've joined a growth group, which is just another name for a small group. We've made some new friends and been really blessed by the community we've found. But nonetheless, it has been pretty hard.
As anybody who has ever moved to a new place knows, making new friends is a challenge. You want so bad to be on the same level you were with old friends but it rarely works out that way. It takes time and effort to build those relationships and sometimes we are selfish and lazy and don't want to work at it. Speaking of old friends...those relationships get hard when you had distance to the mix. No longer do you see each other and get to catch up. No. Now, you have to call and email and text and be intentional. Again, it takes time and effort and selflessness.
If I'm honest (because that's what this blog is all about right?) that doesn't come easy for me. If you're a long distance friend and you're reading this, I truly apologize for being selfish and not keeping up with friendships like I should. I want to be better at it and I'm going to start making a real effort to do so. I give you full permission to call me out on it.
In other news, finding a job where you don't know anybody is pretty difficult. I've had one interview and talked to a few people over email but I still haven't gotten a job. It's a little discouraging. But while I'm writing this, I got a call about an interview next week! Praise the Lord. He really does know what's best for us and has perfect timing. I tend to forget that at times but He's always quick to remind me. (Like just now!)
Anyways, Seth's about to get off work so I'm gonna wrap this up and spend time with my honey. Thanks for reading. I'll try to post again soon!
