Our Love Story

Seth and I met during a retreat at the BCM (Baptist Campus Ministry) at Murray State in April of 2010. He says he remembers seeing me for the first time at our weekly worship gathering a few days before we went to the retreat but I don't remember this. I thought he was cute so I tried my best to put myself in situations where he was, even though I didn't even know his name. After the retreat, I talked my roommate's ear off about him and how much I liked him. A few days later he got my name from a mutual friend and started messaging me on Facebook. We instantly clicked and he asked me for my number. Throughout the next few weeks, we talked everyday and started hanging out in groups. One night, a bunch of us decided to go to Dairy Queen. My friend and I didn't want to walk so Seth offered to drive us. After DQ, we dropped my friend off at her dorm and Seth was about to drop me off at my dorm when my favorite song came on the radio. Of course, Seth seized the opportunity and asked if I wanted him to drive around while it was playing. Obviously, I said YES! So, one song turned into 20 and around 1 a.m. he finally dropped me off at my dorm. Seth claims this was our first date. I disagree because it wasn't planned. He says that at this point he knew that he loved me. About a week later, a group of us decided to go stargazing. Seth and I had discussed watching a movie at his house if it rained and we couldn't go stargazing. Well it didn't rain but it was super cloudy. So we watched the meteor shower for an hour or so then everyone got bored and decided to leave. Seth asked me if I wanted to go back to his house and watch a movie. Of course, I agreed! I consider this our first date. Fast forward about a month, the spring semester was ending and I was going back to Lexington. We said our goodbyes and I cried my eyes out all the way home. A few weeks later, Seth came to Lexington to visit and asked me to be his girlfriend (after some encouragement). I obviously said yes!

During the summer of 2011, Seth went on a mission trip to Denver and San Francisco and I worked at camp in Kentucky. It was a really difficult summer but the Lord grew both of us in huge ways and brought us even closer to Him and therefore, each other. On August 5, my mom and sister came to visit and help me get moved into my new apartment. Us girls went shopping and got our nails done. The next morning, Seth made us breakfast at his place. After we had finished eating, he told me our campus minister had called and asked if we would check on the building and make sure it was cleaned up. I thought it was strange but my mom and sister said they would go to the bookstore while we did that and I agreed to go with Seth. We walked in to the chapel and he switched on a light and there was a package sitting on a chair with a dozen roses beside it. I walked over and opened the package and it was a bible. Seth had placed index cards in certain places and led me through scripture mostly having to do with marriage and love. Then, he asked me to sit down and after a bunch of mushy, cheesy stuff, he proposed! I SAID YES!!! On June 16, 2012, we were married!

The Lord is really good and has grown us so much since we've been together. Seth is a wonderful example of Christ's unconditional love towards me and I couldn't imagine a better partner to spend the rest of my life with. It's been an amazing ride so far and I can't wait to see how the Lord continues to use our marriage for His glory.
